Private or home tutorship is common nowadays all over the world. Over in Malaysia however, the idea has yet to reach their full potential since most parents are more interested in sending their kids to tuition centers. Hence it is not surprising to see that Malaysians that has teaching experiences and credentials especially those working in public schools and universities took the opportunity to make some extra money by working part time in tuition centers.
As time goes by, more and more Malaysian parents are beginning to realize that hiring private or home tutors to take care of their children’s education would be more beneficial. By hiring private or home tutors, parents could easily monitor their children’s learning progress. What is most important to most parents is that they do not have to worry that their children would befriend bad companies outside. There’s nothing wrong with tuition centers, it is just that it would not be easy for parents to monitor their children’s social behaving while they were out learning. Malaysian parents have always been concerned about the moral upbringing of their children and this has triggered nationwide demands for the provision of more home private tuitions.
This increasing demand of home private tuitions in Malaysia has obviously been heard by local entrepreneurs. They knew that this demand has enormous potential and it didn’t take them long to find ways to capitalize on it. In the last few years, I have seen a number of newly established tutor matching websites that provides free listings of tutors that are readily making themselves available in the provision of home private tuitions for the Malaysian market. I am not at all surprised to see that majority of the tutors on the online listings are Malaysian Chinese and Malaysian Indians. Malaysian Malays as always are not truly aware of this new opportunity for their well known hesitation and ignorance in following up with current world or local issues and trends have once again got the better of them. I sincerely hope that my article today would open their eyes on this opportunity in the home private tuition market. From what I was told, some wealthy Malaysian parents are willing to pay top dollars to get the services of top notched home private tutors. This is no laughing matter for some of our Malaysian home private tutors are getting more than part time tutors in tuition centers! So, if you play your cards right, you too can make a decent amount of money from this opportunity.
While we are on the subject of online tutoring, I would like to share with everyone something that I had observed when I was in Japan last year. It is more on eLearning or E-Learning but it is not that far off from what I have been writing here today. E-Learning or eLearning was actually introduced and made popular by the higher learning institutions in the US and UK but it is countries like Japan, China and Hong Kong that really turn eLearning or E-Learning into phenomenal home based money making opportunities! In Tokyo for an example, time is really short (that’s what you get when you are living in big metropolitan cities!) and people there are always on the lookout for any shortcuts to gain success or pursue knowledge. What some ingenious Japanese did to solve this problems are by providing eLearning or E-Learning websites right from the comfort of their homes! What is more amazing is that it is not limited to online tutoring for children alone. They went a few steps further by also providing a variety of other educational programs such as cooking, personal finance management, motivation, self improvement and even business management!
What the Japanese did was really an eye opener for me. I did a little research on my own last few months and I must say that I was absolutely delighted when I found that it is not entirely impossible to run eLearning or E-Learning web services nowadays. You do not even have to spend any money to get the necessary eLearning or E-Learning software modules since most of them can be downloaded for free from Open Source websites such as SourceForge. All you need to do is to define your niche and prepare all your learning modules according to any specific learning calendar. The hardest part would be in finding ways to market your online learning services to the public. After what I had seen over in Japan, I have full confidence that online tutorials such as what I had disclosed earlier can indeed work in other countries as well and that includes Malaysia. This is an absolute gold mine!
